Assistive Listening Devices

A Roger Pen can easily improve your ability to hear in noise, over distance or in an echoey room.

Devices that can help.

Sometimes all a patient needs is a specific device
to address a specific hearing difficulty.

Phone

Oricom Care 80 loud telephone can help the hearing impaired hear on the phone
Hearing difficulties on the phone can be one of the most devastating repercussions of a hearing loss especially for those patients who live by themselves. There are several simple and easy to use phone options now for patients with and without hearing aids.

Television

a Sennheiser TV device can make TV enjoyable again.
A patient who is hearing well generally but is not able to follow the TV at a volume comfortable for others may fancy a TV device. You receive the sound directly while others hear the TV at their volume. There are several options available and can really improve the clarity and quality of the sound from your TV so that watching TV becomes enjoyable again. These can also be used with and without hearing aids.

Group Conversations

Phonak remote microphones are great for hearing better in noise, distance or echo.
Sometimes hearing aids by themselves are not enough to address the more global hearing and communication deficits a patient may be experiencing especially in noise. In this situation, a wireless remote microphone system can be used with the patient's hearing aids to improve access to speech when noise continues to pose a problem.

Other Devices

Nuheara IQbuds have hearing aid technology for people with normal or near normal hearing.
Pristine Hearing also provides other assistive devices such as:
  • Alerting systems (e.g. specifically designed smoke alarms, baby monitors or doorbells),
  • Personal Listening Devices - these are simple devices tailored for patients with significant cognitive decline
  • Hearable Devices - these devices are for patients with near normal hearing who want to be able to control the noise and connect to smartphones etc.
Bellman Audio Maxi is good for people who can no longer manage hearing aids.
Please Note: If you have a DVA GOLD of DVA White (hearing specific) card,
these devices could be fully funded by DVA if there is a clinical need.
